This gem is tucked in a corner of Chinatown on Doyer St. The name of the restaurant isn't clearly displayed but once you go through the doors it's a lovely romantic and dimly lit atmosphere. There's green booths along the walls, candle lit tables and an extensive wine list. I had the silent flute cocktail per the servers recommendation - it's essentially a lychee martini. The menu is made up of cold appetizers, vegetable options, rice/noodles and meats. Plates are meant to be shared. I ordered the hamachi crudo, the veggie fried rice, the lattice style dumplings and crispy eggplant (my favorite). Everything was excellent, served fresh and hot. Service was timely, attentive and patient - I felt like I could enjoy my conversation without feeling rushed. Highly recommend.

What a vibe! The restaurant interior design is so nice, dark and mysterious. Great for a first date or a group date where you can share multiple dishes. I went here for a team outing and it was such a great decision. The staff was so helpful with explaining the dishes and helping us select the best one. We ordered 7-8 plates and everything came out as it was ready, which gave us time to fully enjoy each meal. It is pricy but I do think it's worth it. Its a great location and plenty of food to share. Would go back again!

The ambiance here was excellent, but the food was only okay for the price. We were crammed into our table for 6. Our waitress was excellent. Overall, it was a little overhyped but it was still a neat experience.

Chinese Tuxedo had a polarizing reputation from those who recommended it to me - some raved about it, others said it didn't live up to the hype - so I had to check it out for myself. Came here with a reservation which was relatively easy to secure. The ambience here is great - it's fairly dimly lit but the decor is beautiful. We were quickly seated and introduced to the menu in exquisite detail. Every dish was done well - we tried the hamachi crudo (delicious, tender), shu mai (trout roe was the best part of this), snow pea leaves (a great foil for the rest of the meal), dan dan noodles (pretty solid, noodles were excellent texture), and crab noodles (one of my favorites of the night). But the standouts by far to me were the fried eggplant - haven't ever had anything taste like this before but with a perfectly sweet and crunchy outside texture mixed with a soft and tender (and hot!) inside, and the pork belly - not anything I *hadn't* had before but maybe some of the best cooked pork belly I've had. Overall, this place was an absolute hit. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and when back in the city will keep this place in mind for me to visit again.
